Integration and adoption of new technologies

Integration and adoption of new technologies

Taking into account and/or integrating the human factor in the design and operation of new technologies

Research topics include:

  • Human-machine interaction: How can new technologies be adapted to the human being interacting with them? What modes of communication should be used and how can their effectiveness be assessed? What criteria should be used to adapt the sharing of man-machine tasks to humans, and how should they be implemented?

  • The adoption of technologies, i.e., their acceptability, acceptance and appropriation by users: How can we objectivise the factors driving technology adoption so that we can take them into account in real time? How can user-centred systems be designed and evaluated?

  • Operational reliability and safety. How can the integrity of these new technologies and the safety of people working in their vicinity be tested?

The main applications for this work are highly automated systems or sub-systems (sensors), IoTs and information and decision support systems.
