Data Uncertainty Days, 21 and 22 November 2024

Data Uncertainty Days, 21 and 22 November 2024

Location of the event: IGN, room B301, 73 Av. de Paris, 94160 Saint-Mandé. Access: metro 1 (Saint-Mandé station) or RER A (Vincennes station)

Organised by :

  • François Pinet (TSCF, INRAE),
  • Mireille Batton-Hubert (LIMOS, Ecole des Mines de St Etienne),
  • Eric Desjardin (CReSTIC, Université de Reims),
  • Ana-Maria Raimond (IGN, Saint Mandé)
  • Days supported by the GDR MAGIS of the CNRS.

These days will be devoted to scientific discussions on the uncertainty of geographical data. Many of the data used for analysis, modelling and decision-making are marred by imperfections (imprecision, incompleteness and ambiguity). These uncertainties stem from the lack of complete knowledge about the phenomenon under consideration, and are associated with different types of uncertainty in the sources of information, particularly spatio-temporal data. Mastering this new dimension to be taken into account in geographic data requires new perceptions of this dimension in the associated data, information and knowledge, which translates into a new perception of the geographic object and its semantics. The conference will feature a range of presentations on these subjects, for different types of application.

These days are organised and supported by the CNRS GDR MAGIS and its ‘Epistemic Uncertainty: from data to models in geomatics’ axis. They will take place face-to-face only.

REGISTRATION. Participation is free, but places are limited. To register, please send your request as soon as possible, including your full name and affiliation, by email to francois.pinet@inrae.fr, indicating [J.incertitudes] in the subject line.
